Toronto Welcomes Dr. Chaya Shwaartz

The Toronto Transplant and HPB Programs are pleased to announce the appointment of Fellow Graduate, Chaya Shwaartz as Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and staff physician in the Division of General Surgery at the University Health Network. Chaya graduated with her medical degree from Tel-Aviv University, Israel and completed her residency at Sheba Medical Center, Israel and Mount Sinai Hospital, NY. After a clinical fellowship year in HPB surgery at Sheba Medical Center, she went on to complete a Fellowship in Abdominal Transplant and HPB Surgical Oncology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Shwaartz’s area of clinical expertise is minimally invasive HPB surgery. She is also appointed as the associate to the program director for the Abdominal Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgery Fellowships at the University of Toronto as one of her main interests is resident and fellow education. Chaya has won several awards in surgical education.
